What’s new for 2026
As we head into 2026, we’ve taken an opportunity to review our benefits to confirm they remain competitive and equitable for all of our colleagues. Given our commitment to supporting you and your family’s wellbeing, we’ve decided to keep the vast majority of our benefits the same as they are in 2025, even as costs continue to rise. To further strengthen the flexibility of our benefits program, we’re adding more options so you can customize your coverage to your needs.
Benefits you can rely on
We want to ensure you feel peace of mind when it comes to your and your family’s health and wellbeing. We’re proud that our award-winning benefits are ones you can rely on.
For 2026, all of our health care plans – medical, dental, and vision – will remain the same as they are in 2025 – no plan design changes. You’ll continue to have options like supplemental health benefits and additional coverages to support you, just as you have now.
Here are the changes we’ll introduce in 2026.
New contribution approach for medical plans
As part of our commitment to offering a robust benefits program to all colleagues, we’ve reviewed the contribution approach for our medical plans to ensure it meets our goal of offering an equitable program.
For 2026, we’re revising the medical plan contribution structure to have three bands, which is consistent with the approach many companies like AXA XL take. We’ve worked to ensure our robust benefits programs remain affordable and accessible to all colleagues no matter what they earn or what their role is.
As a result of this change, you will see different costs for your medical plan options in 2026. We encourage you to take this opportunity to check in with your health and financial priorities heading into the new year. We’ve included some considerations about choosing benefits that best meet your financial priorities on this page.
Updates to dental and vision plan contributions
Dental: Our two dental plan options remain comprehensive and with the same current design for 2026. Contributions for the Premium option will increase by $1 – $5 dollars per paycheck, while the Basic option contributions will increase by $0 – $2 dollars per paycheck.
Vision: For vision, contributions will increase approximately $1 depending on the plan and coverage level you choose.
Increased Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution limits
If you enroll in one of the OAP HSA medical plans, AXA XL will contribute $500 (individual coverage) or $1,000 (if you cover dependents) to your HSA for the 2026 plan year. The total amount that you and AXA XL can contribute to your HSA in 2026 is $4,400 for individuals and $8,750 for families. If you’re age 55 or older in 2025, you may contribute an additional $1,000.
Increased Flexible Spending Account contribution limits
The Health Care and Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account contribution limits will increase to $3,300 and you may carry over up to $660 of your remaining balance for use in 2026.
The Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account contribution limit will increase to $7,500 for married couples filing jointly and $3,750 for couples filing separately.
NEW! Identity theft protection
As part of our commitment to offering benefits that flex to you, we’re introducing identity theft protection as an option you may elect during Annual Benefits Enrollment. Our new identify theft protection benefit can help you avoid the financial burden, time commitment and stress that often comes with recovering from fraud. Take advantage of exclusive group rates and get coverage designed to protect what matters to you.
Even more cost-effective access to virtual care
Starting in 2026, when you enroll in one of the AXA XL OAP HSA plans, you may use MDLIVE and pay 20% coinsurance for any visit, regardless of whether you've met your deductible yet. This makes on-the-go access to general medicine and mental health advice and treatment for non-urgent healthcare needs even more accessible and affordable to you. Keep in mind that you can use your Health Savings Account to cover the cost of MDLIVE visits!
Your expanded selection of benefit options includes:

How to enroll
Enrolling is easy! When you’re ready to enroll, you’ll select your benefits through the following sites:
- For Employee and Dependent Group Variable Universal Life (GVUL) only: through the MetLife platform.
- For all other benefits: myHR via myHR on Essential Links on ONE, AXA XL’s company intranet.
See the “Benefits Enrollment for US Colleagues” reference guide to assist you in navigating the myHR enrollment system.
Do I need to enroll?
If you don’t enroll, your current benefit elections will continue next year, with the exception of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). You must take action if you want to contribute to an FSA in 2026.
Tobacco and Working Spouse surcharges
AXA XL makes a large effort to promote wellbeing and self-care, including through the Healthy You eXpos and biometric events. Medical experts have identified the use of tobacco products as one of the leading preventable health risks in the United States, and to encourage colleagues to quit, we include a tobacco user’s surcharge for those enrolling in an AXA XL medical plan.
AXA XL is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of all our colleagues. We understand that working spouses may have access to other employer medical coverage, and so we include a working spouse surcharge. This approach enables us to manage costs effectively and maintain a robust package of benefits for all our valued colleagues.
By doing so, we can keep premiums reasonable and sustain our benefits program, which ultimately allows us to support your health and welfare in the most effective way. Your wellbeing is our top priority, and our goal is to foster an environment where everyone thrives together. Rest assured, this approach enables us to continue providing a diverse and valuable benefits package that supports not only you but also your loved ones' health and welfare.
The following medical surcharges are in addition to your medical plan premium contributions:
- If you or your covered spouse/domestic partner use tobacco, you’ll each pay a $75 per month surcharge.
- If your spouse/domestic partner is working and has access to his or her employer-sponsored medical plan but you choose to cover them under the AXA XL medical plan, you’ll pay a $100 per month surcharge.
- When you enroll for medical coverage in myHR, you must check the appropriate boxes related to the surcharges. If you change your medical plan election for 2026, be sure to adjust your surcharge elections as changes do not occur automatically.
Please review your elections during Annual Benefits Enrollment and, if your circumstances change, throughout the year to ensure they accurately reflect your status.
Enrolling your dependents
If you plan to enroll new dependents or name new beneficiaries, you’ll need to first add them under “People to Cover” in the myHR system to ensure you are able to enroll and/or select them. If they are already listed as contacts, do not add them again.
If you plan to cover a domestic partner, it is important to note that you must submit a domestic partner affidavit and domestic partner tax status form to the RMBenefitsAdministration@axaxl.com box, if you do not already have one in place with the AXA XL Benefits Department. Find these documents on the right hand side of this page.
Don’t miss out
After Annual Benefits Enrollment ends, you can’t change most benefit elections unless you experience a qualifying life event.

When choosing a medical plan, it’s important to think about the whole cost of coverage — the amount you’ll spend out of your paycheck (premium contributions), as well as out of your pocket (copays, deductibles, and coinsurance).
