Telehealth: physical and behavioral

Cigna Telehealth Connection is available to you if you are enrolled in one of the AXA XL medical plan options. Cigna provides access to MDLIVE. Note: You must be enrolled in an AXA XL medical plan to take advantage of MDLIVE.

In addition to telehealth for non-emergency physical health needs, you can also use it for behavioral health services. Scroll down the page for more information.

Health needs don’t keep office hours. With MDLIVE you have access to board-certified physicians 24/7 through video conference, telephone, or secure email. MDLIVE is a lower cost alternative to the emergency room or urgent care facility for non-emergency medical issues.

This service helps you:

  • Decide between the ER or urgent care center for a non-emergency medical issue
  • Gain access to medical care when your primary care physician is not available
  • Get answers to questions about non-emergency medical issues
  • Fill a prescription or get a refill when you cannot reach your regular doctor
  • Receive non-emergency medical attention when traveling
  • When you need a doctor at night, on weekends, or on holidays

Televisits with MDLIVE can be a cost-effective alternative to a convenience care clinic or urgent care center, and cost less than going to the emergency room. And the cost of a phone or online visit is usually the same or less than the cost of an office visit to your doctor. Remember, MDLIVE is only available for minor, non-life threatening medical conditions and medical visits. In an emergency, dial 911 or go to the nearest hospital.

For covered services related to mental health and substance abuse, you have access to the Evernorth Behavioral Health network of providers. Telehealth visits with Evernorth Behavioral Health network providers cost the same as an in-office visit.

When to use telehealth

It’s 2 am and your baby is crying. He has an ear infection and the doctor isn’t in. Or, you’re traveling for work and come down with a stomach bug. Whatever your common ailment may be, call MDLIVE when you need care most. It’s cost-effective, convenient and there when you need it.

Behavioral virtual care visits

Telehealth services can help with more than everyday medical issues. Your telemedicine benefit, through Evernorth Behavioral Health and MDLIVE, includes convenient, affordable access to licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, counselors, and therapists who can help you navigate a wide range of personal issues including anxiety, addiction, depression, family difficulties, and more.

With behavioral health virtual care, you get the care and attention you’d expect from an in-office visit, and you can:

  • Talk privately with a licensed counselor or psychiatrist via video or phone
  • Have a prescription sent directly to your local pharmacy
  • Pay the same out-of-pocket cost as an in-office behavioral health visit

Get the support you need today!

You can receive access to virtual counseling through MDLIVE or Evernorth Behavioral Health network of providers.

  • To schedule an appointment through MDLIVE, go to myCigna.com or call 888-726-3171.
  • To find a Evernorth Behavioral Health network provider, visit myCigna.com, go to “Find Care & Costs” and enter “Virtual counselor” under Doctor by Type. Or, call the number on your Cigna ID card.

Virtual physical therapy through Sword

Physical pain and decreased mobility isn’t just uncomfortable— it can be mentally taxing and discouraging. Add on the difficulty of scheduling and traveling to physical therapy appointments, and physical pain suddenly becomes even more frustrating.

Through AXA XL’s new partnership with Sword, all colleagues and their AXA XL medical plan-enrolled dependents ages 13 and up can now receive free virtual physical therapy sessions with licensed physical therapists from the comfort of your home.

Through Sword:

  • Participating individuals are matched with a licensed physical therapist. After a comprehensive evaluation, your therapist develops an individualized plan designed around your diagnosis, abilities, and goals.
  • You’ll receive tailored care for any musculoskeletal issues affecting you, from neck pain to ankle sprains. Your physical therapist will help you work toward your goals, whether that means living pain medication free or being able to get outdoors and bike with your kids.
  • Your movement program is integrated into the digital app and website so you can practice your exercises anytime, anywhere. Sword also provides wearable sensors that work with Sword’s Digital Therapist to provide you with real-time feedback on your exercise movements. The Digital Therapist provides data for your physical therapist to analyze ahead of your next check-in.
  • You can access videos about musculoskeletal health or quick flexibility exercises, chat with your physical therapist, and even learn behavioral therapy techniques that help you work through your pain all from the ease of the Sword app.

Sword is not just for those in immediate physical pain either. It can help anyone maintain their physical health, avoid injuries, and stay active. Whether you’re an athlete, recovering from surgery, or just want to move more, Sword’s targeted exercises can help you improve your strength and mobility. Sword is not intended as a total replacement for in-person physical therapy, but can help you feel and move your best.

Anyone can take advantage of Sword at any point throughout the year. You don’t need to enroll during Annual Enrollment to start using Sword. It’s important to note that in-person physical therapy continues to be offered through the AXA XL medical plan. Visit Sword to get started.

Personalized pelvic care through Bloom

One in four women suffers from moderate to severe pelvic health disorders, but many do not seek care for their pain or discomfort. Whether the pelvic disorder originated from childbirth, menopause, surgery, or other causes, care and support are available.

Bloom is one such solution intended to address pelvic health disorders. Featuring a unique, FDA-listed intravaginal device, the Bloom Pod, and a smartphone based app, Bloom combines tailored physical therapy with digital tracking and education.

Through the program, you’ll choose a Pelvic Health Specialist and set a training plan that includes pelvic-floor and pelvic-girdle muscle exercises that use the Pod. The Pod measures the contraction and elongation of the pelvic floor, and the Pod reports these measurements to your Bloom app for your Pelvic Health Specialist to review and incorporate into your treatment plan. Your data is confidential, and Bloom’s digital platform allows you to receive your pelvic care from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Bloom targets pelvic-health issues associated with:

  • Bladder health
  • Sexual health
  • Pelvic pain
  • Bowel health
  • Pregnancy
  • Postpartum
  • Menopause

Upon signing up, you’ll receive tailored support, all while learning about anatomy, bladder/bowel habits, pain management strategies, and lifestyle changes that can help enhance your overall pelvic health in the long-term.

All AXA XL colleagues and their medical plan enrolled dependents (18+) with female anatomy are eligible to enroll in Bloom at no additional cost. Visit join.hibloom.com/AXAXL to get started.
