Considering welcoming a child?

For all colleagues:

  • Adoption reimbursement: AXA XL provides an adoption benefit reimbursement for up to $10,000 per child. Reimbursement covers expenses such as court fees, immigration fees, and legal fees.
  • Someone to lean on during your journey: Planning for a new child can feel like a transformative time in your life. Whatever your path to parenthood may bring, you can use our Employee Assistance Program if you need someone to talk to.
  • Get your budget in order: Consider planning your financial future with an expanded family by getting help with budgeting through Merrill.

For colleagues enrolled in an AXA XL medical plan:

  • Plan for a healthy pregnancy: Cigna Healthy Babies, Healthy Pregnancies program offers free access to preconception planning tools and resources, as well as clinical information about becoming as healthy as you can be to prepare for pregnancy. Cigna maternity specialists can also help you stop alcohol and tobacco use, control any medical conditions, and develop a healthy eating and exercise plan ahead of your pregnancy.   • Fertility treatment and care: The AXA XL medical plan offers fertility benefits to all colleagues, regardless of whether they have received an infertility diagnosis. In addition to common medical and prescription drug services, coverage also includes egg freezing and donor sourcing. Refer to your plan documents for more details.
Pregnant and/or expecting a child?

For all colleagues:

  • Take some time away: Review the U.S. Colleagues Handbook on ONE for more information about Short-term Disability, Long-term Disability, Family and Medical Leave Act, and parental leave. Be sure to review the helpful checklist located at the New child tile on the Life changes page for the steps you need to take before you’ll be on leave.
  • Strengthen your pelvic health: If you’re a colleague with female anatomy, you can enroll in Bloom free of charge. Bloom offers a robust pelvic health program through a unique, FDA-listed intravaginal device and smartphone-based app and can help you prepare for labor. Learn more here.

For colleagues enrolled in an AXA XL medical plan:

  • Earn extra $$$: If you didn’t previously enroll in the Cigna Healthy Babies, Healthy Pregnancies program, you can earn a $200 gift card for enrolling in the program during your first trimester of pregnancy, or a $100 gift card for enrolling during your second trimester of pregnancy. Gift cards are distributed upon program completion through the Staying Well program on www.myCigna.com. Call 800-615-2906 to enroll.
  • Receive 24/7 support: Download the Cigna Healthy Pregnancy app from either Google Play or the Apple App store and log in with your myCigna user ID and password to:
    • Watch educational videos about your baby’s weekly development
    • Connect with your maternity specialist and ask questions about your pregnancy
    • Track your symptoms and pregnancy
  • Connect with care anywhere: As you navigate pregnancy, take advantage of MDLIVE for minor health care needs, if you wish to limit in-person interactions in a doctor’s office. You’ll be quickly connected to board-certified physicians via telephone and video conference.
  • Get a free breast pump ahead of time: If you plan to breastfeed your baby, it may be helpful to obtain a breast pump prior to your delivery date. Once you’ve reached your 28th week of pregnancy, Cigna plan members are eligible for a free breast pump. See here to learn more about how to request a pump.
  • Find helpful education to plan ahead for early days with your new child: Check the Cigna Healthy pregnancy app to find tools such as the Baby Boost relaxation tool or an expanded content library on topics such as pediatrics, behavioral health, gun safety, and developmental milestones and to-dos. Download the Cigna Healthy Pregnancy app from either Google Play or the Apple App store and log in with your myCigna user ID and password to get started.

When you welcome a new child, be sure to add them to your benefits coverage within 30 days of birth, adoption, or placement in your home and update your beneficiary information for your 401(k), life insurance, GVUL, and AD&D coverages. For colleagues enrolled in an AXA XL medical plan:

  • Take advantage of telehealth: If your child is enrolled as a dependent on an AXA XL medical plan, they can see a provider via MDLIVE for non-urgent health care issues. Consider this resource if you’re busy or can’t go in-person to the doctor when your child(ren) falls ill. MDLIVE practitioners can also help you determine if you need to seek in-person urgent or emergency care.
  • Connect your child to mental health care: Recent research suggests many children need mental health help. AXA XL offers Lyra to medical plan-enrolled colleagues, for access to a broad network of providers you can meet with in-person or virtually. Lyra’s website also has helpful resources to guide and your child through mental health needs.
