Whether you’re looking for a new doctor, saving for the future, or shopping around for a new TV, this checklist will help you make smart decisions for your body and wallet — allowing you to save money while protecting what matters most.

Caring for your health

Choosing a doctor

Get the most value from your medical plan by choosing in-network doctors. They’ve agreed to negotiated rates, which saves you money. And, your plan provides more generous coverage when you stay in network, including free preventive care, lower deductibles/out-of-pocket maximums, and lower cost-sharing. Getting medical care

  • Get quick, convenient access to affordable care for many common medical issues through your medical plan’s telehealth service. It’s available 24/7, 365-days a year.
  • Pay less for eligible health care expenses (including prescriptions and many over-the-counter items, like pain reliever, sunscreen, and bandages) with your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Using tax-free money from an HSA or FSA is like getting discounted health care! Don’t have an account? Consider enrolling next Annual Benefits Enrollment or if you have a qualifying life event. (Keep in mind, you don’t have to be enrolled in an AXA XL medical plan to enroll in an FSA.) Have an HSA now? You can change your contribution amount to keep up with your spending, if needed.

Filling prescriptions

  • Request generic drugs, when available. Generics have the same active ingredients as brand-name equivalents and meet the same standards for quality and effectiveness, but cost much less.
  • Fill maintenance medication that you take long-term in 90-day supplies, either through CVS Mail Service or at a local CVS retail pharmacy. This ensures you get the most savings on your prescription, while also saving you time with fewer refills to order.
  • Check medication prices and manage your prescriptions on the CVS Caremark website.

Getting dental care

Time for a dental check-up? It’s free with your AXA XL dental plan! You pay nothing for routine exams, cleanings, and X-rays. Learn more about your dental coverage.

Getting vision care

Take care of your eyes with regular exams. They cost only $10 with AXA XL vision coverage! And, if you need glasses, you pay only $25 for the lenses, plus your cost for frames. Learn more about your vision coverage.

Managing a new or existing health condition

  • Get answers to your questions and guidance about treatment options when faced with a new diagnosis. All AXA XL employees (not just those enrolled in a medical plan) have free access to Teladoc Health for second opinion insights from world-renowned physicians. You’ll be connected with a leading specialist who can help you better understand your condition and provide recommendations.
  • Take control of your pre-diabetes, diabetes, or hypertension with specialized health management programs. These programs provide support, supplies, and easy-to-use technology — all at no cost to you or your family member enrolled in a medical plan.
  • Did you know that specialized care to support pelvic health is available? And it’s free to you and your family members with female anatomy age 18+ enrolled in a medical plan. Bloom helps address pelvic disorders, such as pain, bladder issues, sexual concerns.

Treating back, joint, or muscular pain

Living with pain or mobility issues can significantly impact your quality of life. Help is available — at no cost to you! Sword Thrive is offered to employees and family members age 13+ enrolled in an AXA XL medical plan. This digital program provides customized physical therapy designed just for you by a licensed physical therapist. Best of all, you don’t have to leave home to participate.

Living healthy

Your AXA XL benefits offer so many ways to help you be your healthiest. And a healthier body means a healthier wallet, since you avoid costly medical care.

  • Get free preventive care with your medical coverage, including annual physicals, health screenings, and vaccinations.
  • Improve your fitness with a personalized exercise program designed specifically for your goals through Sword Move — available at no additional cost to AXA XL employees and family members age 13+ enrolled in a medical plan.
  • Receive a fitness reimbursement covering 50% of the cost of gym memberships, exercise classes, and other fitness programs, up to $200 a year.
  • Earn up to $450 in awards each year through the Staying Well Program for completing healthy activities aligned to your personal well-being goals.
  • Save $75 (or $150) a month on medical plan costs if you (and your spouse/domestic partner) are currently using tobacco or e-cigarettes and enroll in a tobacco cessation program via ActiveHealth (AHH) Management. Upon successfully completing the program, the Tobacco User Surcharge will stop — and you will receive a retroactive reimbursement of the surcharges you’ve paid in 2026.
  • Earn $100 a year (for each person enrolled in the Accident or Critical Illness supplemental medical plans) when you complete a wellness activity, such as getting your annual physical, a cancer screening, or vaccination. Check the benefit summaries for more information.

Caring for your mental health

  • You and your household members have access to a free, confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) — and we encourage you to use it! The EAP isn’t just for crises (although it’s a great resource in those situations). It’s for everyday needs, too, like finding stress management tips, navigating relationships, or dealing with financial concerns.
  • Take advantage of convenient text-based or virtual therapy options through TalkSpace and confidential behavioral telehealth services. These services are covered as part of your medical plan’s benefits.

Focusing on family, daily life, and personal fulfillment

Growing your family

If your path to parenthood involves adoption or surrogacy, AXA XL is here to help reduce the financial impact to you. You can receive up to $10,000 per child for eligible expenses, including court fees, legal fees, and more.

Paying for day care

Using a Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) saves you money because you’re using tax-free dollars to pay for eligible dependent care expenses, like child day care, nursery schools, babysitters, summer camps, and more. Any change in related circumstances, like having a baby or changing your day care situation, qualifies as a life event that allows you to enroll in a Dependent Day Care FSA or adjust your contributions.

Making purchases — big or small

Take advantage of exclusive discounts on electronics, appliances, vehicles, flowers, fitness memberships, gift cards, groceries, vacations, and a whole lot more through Plum Benefits! You can also save money with GM car discounts and the Bank of America Preferred Rewards program.

Caring for your pet

Reduce the cost of veterinary care for your pet through MetLife pet insurance. Coverage provides reimbursement for many common vet services. You can enroll in pet insurance at any time during the year.

Making charitable donations

We want to help you make a meaningful difference in the causes that matter to you. Our Matching Gifts and Funds Program matches 100% of the personal contributions you make each calendar year (a minimum of $25, maximum of $800).

Commuting to work

If you have commuting or parking expenses, the Inspira Financial commuter benefit can save you money by allowing you to set aside pre-tax money for these costs. You can enroll, change your contribution amount, or cancel month to month.

Getting support while traveling

The AXA Travel Assistance Program provides free emergency travel assistance to you and your dependents when traveling more than 100 miles from home.

Maximizing your retirement savings

AXA XL matches 200% of your 401(k) Employee Savings Plan contributions, up to 5% of your eligible compensation. That means that for every $1.00 you invest, the company adds $2.00 (up to the match limits), giving your savings a significant boost!

You have access to financial advice through Merrill’s Global Corporate & Institutional Advisory Services to help you make the most of your investments. These professionals are available to provide you with benefit plan education and personalized wealth management services.

Protecting your identity from fraud

Cyber crime is more prevalent than ever. You can protect yourself with MetLife Aura identify theft protection. This coverage is available at discounted group rates to AXA XL employees. You can enroll during our annual Open Enrollment or if you have a qualifying life event.

Getting legal advice

Legal fees can really add up. But with the MetLife Legal Plans, you get unlimited access to covered legal services with no out-of-pocket costs — your low monthly payroll deduction covers it all. From buying a home to fighting a traffic ticket or managing family matters, your MetLife membership gives you access to a network of expert attorneys when you need them. You can enroll during our annual Open Enrollment or if you have a qualifying life event.
